Postcard of a commemorative sign on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. | Sep. 20, 1805. Canoe Camp Site. L.&C. Exp. Capt. Clark met a part of Nez Perce Indians, who gave him dried salmon and camass root flour. He sent Reuben Fields back with a pack load for Lewis and is men. Clark continued down to the lower country to a large Indian camp presided over by Chief Twisted Hair. Lewis joined them later and the complete expedition rested and then built dugout canoes.
