Postcard commemorates a stop on the Lewis and Clark expedition at a place called "Indian Post Office" in the Bitterroot Mountains in Idaho. | Sept. 16, 1805. Indian Post Office L.&C. Exp. Capt. Clark, leading the main party, had great difficulty in keeping on the trail because of the snow. Passed the "Indian Post Office" built long before the Lewis & Clark Expedition by the Nez Perce tribe to receive messages of their success on Buffalo hunts into Montana. "Killed second colt and all supped heartily."
