"Caught in the Mousetrap: Media Deregulation, Disney and You"
February 1st
Rebecca Self - JAMM
Abstract: In economics classes, we teach our students that deregulation, free trade agreements and open markets are the keys to unfettered economic success, but what are the social, cultural and personal consequences when a small handful of massive media conglomerates control most of the information the American public reads, sees and hears?
Taking the Walt Disney Company as an example, we'll discuss the ways people and corporations meet, what happens in those interactions and why.
