"2001: A Film Music Odyssey"
October 28th
James Murphy - Lionel Hampton School of Music
Abstract: Music is very important to the total impact of the art form we know as film. Years of work and millions of dollars are invested in the production of a major motion picture and yet its music is often changed at the last moment. This audio-visual presentation will explore some of the fundamentals of film music and highlight some segments of Alex North's discarded score for Kubrik's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
