Abstract: Interactions between mathematicians and biologists (and others) are central to the success of UI's Initiative for Bioinformatics and Evolutionary Studies (IBEST). More generally, such interactions are changing and enriching both biology and mathematics. I will discuss some of my own experiences and observations from the interdisciplinary arena.
