"Community Art Abroad: Experiences from Sowing Seeds Artist Residency, Jetpur Village, Rajasthan, India"
Assistant Professor, Art and Design
February 5
Aurora Room (4th Floor), Idaho Commons
Abstract: This presentation will address various approaches made to connect through the unique language of art when 13 International artists worked collaboratively with a small village in Rajasthan, India. Layered cultural perspectives and perceived ranges of successful connections made to this non-academic art audience will be addressed. A focus will also be on Stacy Isenbarger’s multipart installation in Jetpur. Working with the village youth, she broke boundaries in her own artistic practice and explored the language of visual art and performance to connect as a non-Hindi speaking outsider.
