EM*Power, a new 4-H waste management curriculum for grades 6-9, empowers youth to make a difference on waste management issues in their own communities. The EM*Power curriculum: Uses a step-by-step approach to develop critical thinking skills necessary for planning and carrying out waste management or environmental restoration action projects. Is designed for use by 4-H, formal and non-formal youth programs, schools, environmental education programs, and residential camping program. Is being reviewed by the national 4-H curriculum jury for use as a national 4-H curriculum. Was developed through a cooperative effort among the Idaho and Washington 4-H programs, the Idaho Water Resources Research Institute, and the State of Washington Water Research Center.
