SUBJECT: Vandals Are Rolling Up Their Sleeves for Vaccines
Vandals are getting vaccinated. While we do not track vaccinations, we know our Vandal Family is rolling up their sleeves and getting the shot that will help us get back to a more normal life. More than 29,000 vaccines have been given in the North Central Health District, which includes Moscow. More than 400 students traveled to Lewiston last week to take advantage of the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Many others got the first of a two-dose vaccine at the Student Recreation Center. This is great news.
Vaccine clinics on the Moscow campus are full for several weeks, but vaccines are available through other clinics. These include Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories in Pullman, selinc.com/vaccine and the Johnson and Johnson clinics offered by Idaho Public Health in Lewiston – call 208-799-3100 for availability. Other local clinics can be found at idahoprepmod.com. Most local pharmacies also offer vaccines – contact yours for information about options.
Choosing to vaccinate is a private medical decision and, as with all medical information, details regarding a person’s vaccination status are confidential. Supervisors should not ask employees their vaccination status for any reason. Employees can share their own status, if they choose.
General surveillance testing resumed last week along with testing of symptomatic and close contact people. We saw a slight increase in percentage from the week prior due to testing fewer asymptomatic people and a small pocket of cases that has been addressed. Of the 667 test results, 3.15% were positive. Please continue to participate in surveillance testing if you receive an email invitation to do so.
Stay focused. Stay vigilant. We are nearing the end of the semester and have much to be proud of – including our ability to remain in person throughout the pandemic because of your efforts.
Keep Calm and Vandal On.
