SUBJECT: COVID-19 Vaccine Is Available to 16+ in Moscow
The second week of mid-semester COVID-19 testing continued to show a low rate of infection. Of the 1,031 test results this past week, 1.16% were positive. The 5,001 tests of our mid-semester re-test of in-person Moscow-based students initiated two weeks ago produced only 0.52% total positive results. This is in sharp contrast to what is happening in Whitman County. Restrictions on outdoor gatherings were implemented in Pullman on Friday as cases continued to climb. This is a valuable reminder that the COVID-19 threat is still with us.
Thank you for continuing to keep your health and the health of those around you at the forefront of your decision-making.
Surveillance testing resumes this week in Moscow. If you receive an email to participate, please do so. If you are symptomatic, contact covid19questions@uidaho.edu to schedule a testing appointment at the drive-through testing site.
Vaccine rollout continues across the state. More than 322,000 Idahoans are fully vaccinated. Vaccination clinics are held at the Student Recreation Center each week – on Thursday and Friday. We encourage you to sign up to receive a vaccine. It is important to do so as quickly as possible to avoid a second dose being delivered during exam week – as the second dose can sometimes cause mild flu-like symptoms. Visit the COVID-19 vaccine page to learn more about the different vaccines and view the vaccine webinar from last week.
The Johnson and Johnson one-dose vaccine is in limited supply. Idaho Public Health North Central District said if you identify this as the best option for you, call their main office in Lewiston at 208-799-3100 for any openings in the region or you can also monitor idahoprepmod.com for any Johnson & Johnson/Janssen-specific clinics listed in your region.
We are eagerly planning our graduation ceremonies. Those graduating this spring and their families can find more details about commencement on the university commencement site. Information about faculty participation is also available.
Continue the good work. We are almost to the finish line.
As always, Keep Calm and Vandal On.
