March 22, 2021 | COVID-19 Test Required for Students; Vaccinations Broadening

SUBJECT: COVID-19 Test Required for Students; Vaccinations Broadening
Welcome back. We hope each of you was able to enjoy a little down time over Spring Break — whether away from school or work, or simply by having a quieter schedule.
Required COVID-19 Test
All Moscow-based students participating in in-person educational delivery and all students living in residence halls, no matter your course delivery method, must schedule a COVID -19 test. Exemptions are given for those who previously tested positive or have submitted documentation of a completed vaccination to jblazzard@uidaho.edu. Slots are available Tuesday and Wednesday and 25 students testing this week will win $100 VandalStore gift cards. Those not tested by the end of the day Wednesday will be placed on the ineligible-to-attend list on Friday, March 26, and restricted access to university systems, including BbLearn and VandalWeb, will follow.
Significantly fewer COVID-19 tests were completed last week due to Spring Break. Of the 376 results, 2.93% were positive. After a bit of an isolated spike a few weeks ago, this is good news for the third week in a row. However, we must remain vigilant as cases across the Washington border are again significantly on the rise. We ask you to continue to use good judgement when interacting with our peers at Washington State University. We simply cannot put the health of our community at risk.
Please Honor Idaho Vaccination Distribution Plans
COVID-19 vaccine dissemination is ahead of schedule across the state. Gritman Medical Center is now giving vaccines to anyone ages 35 and older. You can sign up for a vaccine on Gritman’s COVID-19 website. Neighboring counties have, at times, allowed people 16 and older to receive vaccinations, as supply has allowed. To pre-register for available vaccines, sign up on the State of Idaho website.
Commencement
As protocols allow for more in-person events, planning continues for live, in-person Commencement ceremonies in Moscow, Boise and Idaho Falls in May.
Six ceremonies to honor 2020 and 2021 graduates are set for Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16, at the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center in Moscow. One ceremony will be held for 2020 graduates while other ceremonies will be grouped by college to accommodate Idaho Rebounds protocols. In-person ceremonies are also being planned for Tuesday, May 18, in Boise, and Wednesday, May 19, in Idaho Falls. All ceremonies will be subject to Healthy Vandal protocols and state regulations.
More information and a breakdown of ceremonies is on the Commencement website.
It is great to have everyone back as we begin the second half of the semester. Remain diligent and continue to follow the Healthy Vandal Pledge.
Keep Calm and Vandal On.
