The tall evergreens dwarf the Dave Lewis Cabin at Taylor Wilderness Research Station. The Pioneer Creek drainage extends to the south and Dave Lewis Peak is visible in the draw. The Pioneer Creek drainage burned in 2000, and the once undulating skyline is broken by thousands of thin gray snags.
