Monument on Monumental Creek - c.1936 and 2019

This monument may have been historically significant to the Tukudeka, or Sheepeater Indians, though not much information is publicly known. Named for what it is on US Forest Service topographic maps, there is some evidence to suggest that the formation had some colorful and imaginative monikers in the past. During the gold rush era, miners and prospectors traveled along Monumental Creek frequently.
