The American Language and Cultures Program (ALCP) collection contains materials for English-language learners, including writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation texts, along with a range of American Literature such as Hi-Lo (high-interest, low-readability) titles for adults building their reading skills.
The collection isn’t open for in-person browsing, but everything can be requested through the U of I Library Main Catalog for pickup and checkout at the Main Library — use the ALCP Physical Location facet to limit your search to ALCP items. Questions? Contact libref@uidaho.edu.
The Bowers Laboratory of Anthropology is an independent unit of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences. The lab holds over 4,000 books and manuscripts, all searchable in the U of I Library Main Catalog.
Materials don’t circulate and must be used on-site at 404 Sweet Avenue. Lab hours vary — call (208) 885-1771 to check access before visiting.
The Asian Studies Collection is open to the public, with books and DVDs covering politics, economy, geography, philosophy, traditional health practices, and literature, plus textbooks and reference materials in Chinese, Japanese, and English. Items are searchable in the U of I Library Main Catalog and can be checked out with a Vandal or Community Borrower Card.

The Stillinger Herbarium maintains an extensive botanical library of over 2,000 volumes, strong in Northwest and Rocky Mountain field guides, regional flora keys, Forest Service and Park Service technical reports, and general ecosystem references.
The collection is located in the Mines Building, rooms 116 and 117A. Hours may be limited, but items can also be requested for pickup at the Main Library. Email herbarium@uidaho.edu for more information.
