Manuscript Group 51
Records, 1930-1965
8.75 c.f.
The papers of the custom printing division of the Kendrick Gazette were donated to the University of Idaho Library by P.C. McCreary in 1969 or 1970. They were processed by Judith Nielsen in May 1985.
The major portion of this record group consists of chronologically arranged job tickets. These are envelopes with the date, the name of the customer, the order, and the cost of the job on the face; inside is a copy or draft of the item to be printed and one or two copies of the newly printed item. Among the many types of material included are checks, invoices, letterheads, envelopes, business and legal forms, circular letters, annual reports, ballots, butter wrappers, and cottage cheese and ice cream cartons. There are also graduation announcements, diplomas, dance programs and sale bills, newspaper type flyers and posters.
The financial material consists of alphabetically arranged invoices from suppliers of paper, ink, and other materials as well as from companies who did the specialized printing, e.g., high school diplomas and wedding announcements. The job journals are a chronological listing of jobs with the cost, while the ledgers are an alphabetical arrangement. The cash subscription journals are a monthly chronological listing of Kendrick Gazette subscription payments and dispersals.
