The records of the Big Eight group of mines are part of the records of Day Mines, Inc., donated to the University of Idaho by Henry L. Day in 1984 and 1985. They were processed by Judith Nielsen in February 1993.
The Big Eight group of mines, located near Troy, Montana, in the unorganized mining district in Lincoln County, consisted of two unpatented claims, the Bangor and Galena. Henry L. Day owned 51% of the property, with 35% being owned by Edward McCaffrey and 14% by J.D. Finley. The records consist of an alphabetically arranged file correspondence concerning assessment work, leases, and the general management of the mine. Henry Day sold his share of the mine in 1943.
