Mt Idaho

Mr Wm Dulles Esq
I have not troubled Mr Dulles for a long time but I have been very very busy & not strong. I have such a pleasant school or class of seven Nez Per men this winter, and they are so hungry to knew & tax the time & strength of their teacher. I never have had a more earnest or interesting class. My sister has enjoyed much the help she has given in teaching them.

While my pupils are at Pres which meets this week at Kendrick Idaho I must write to Mr Dulles, who has not heard from me directly for so long. My sister wrote him of my severe attack (the 8th) of this dreadful grip. The friends here sent for my sister without telling me, tho I was very glad she came. Tho I did not miss one day from the schoolroom. I do not think I could have done without her. No one could have so. The disease did not prevent my being in the schoolroom every day where my she sister with her knowledge of the Nez Perce helped me to teach my pupils beside attending to her own while outside of the school work of Roberts &c for the Board. [illegible] me like my sister in the strange form which the disease assumed, with Gods help & the help of this strong Scotch will he gives me, I did not miss a day from the school room tho it took all my strength. My sisters help supplemented the schoolroom work much. My pupils did not miss one day, and perhaps never made greater progress in the same length of time. The enjoyed their school much and so did my sister. My sister also attends Pres this week with pupils. Mrs Shearer also taught the womens school. So that both schools in Mt Idaho had their full term of study. There is now due my helper Mrs Shearer $95.00 and salary of S.L. McB for 6 mos $300.00, $395.00 in all. I have had no check from the Board for 6 months tho I need it much. But the fault was mine in not writing & appealing of it to Mr Dulles – I hope it will not trouble him to send it now – I need it much.
