The enclosed note from Mr McArthur came this morning Of course, it means you as the arrangements were with you & the Walla Walla Pres. If you write to Mr A speak plainly about "bro" Silas & Licentiate Moses & their "Chief" Archie too. Have you heard from them or from Mr Adair lately? Do you know what they purpose doing? The Indians say that Archie is at Lapwai. The most of the time comes up to K preaches once in 2 or 3 weeks, and goes back to Lapwai again. If you do not go to church on Sab. you perhaps do not see him. I suppose he stays at Edwards, with his wife. Silas & Moses supply his Kamiah church in his absence seem to have no thought of leaving it the Ind’s say.

The checks came last week. One for Robert; one for James, one for Parsons & one for Caleb. Did you send Moses? Separately and direct? Kate, I don’t want you to send the checks through me again. I did not think you thought of doing so or I would have told you. That is your business not mine to send their checks direct to each one and you should have them acknowledge the reciept of the money to you by letter themselves. And, you must say what you have to say to James Hayes direct yourself. I do not agree with you in that matter, you know. I expect some of them will be up this week. (D.V.)
