Mt Idaho April 26th 1892
Kate dear sister-
I have just had a letter from James Hayes written the 22th while at Presbytery
in Union saying that Presbytery had appointed him as Commissioner to the
General Assembly at Portland. Thank God for His mercies and help to his people
among the Nez Perces and to us. Of course you will see James. He was to preach in Union
Saturday evening in English.
I had a letter from Robert a few days ago saying he did not think he could go to Portland. He could not get any one to help Lucy while he was gone. She had to stay alone and attend to the cattle and horses while he was at Presbytery and he "was sorrowful for his wife for she was weary." And besides he said he was afraid it would "make trouble unto Kate C. McBeth if he should go with her to Portland. Miss Kate C. McBeth is well to go to Portland alone. Be best." he writes. "If I with her perhaps I will make trouble unto her. I think." I suppose he means trouble to you from the other set. I wrote him to try and go if possible.
I recieved your last letter. I have not seen Parsons yet. Robert was here after Pres He said Parsons did not want to go to Spokans but submitted. He though it was only until fall Pres if Silas went. He too understood Silas was only free until fall Pres. Try & have that made plain to Silas. Jim Hines note is impudent. Of course he would not go but he will try to throw the blame on you. I will write to Woods (D.V.) but I suppose it is too late now to hinder Parsons from going, only to try to have him freed this fall. He ought to go to the Shoshones with Robert this summer if God wills. I am so sorry Miss Axtells letter did not come until after Pres. tho Parsons was promised for Shoshones long ago. If I send Miss Axtells letter to Woods Charlie would recognize Miss Axtell and fight against it. He wanted to see the Nez Perces at Lewiston to see who had the most votes A. or R. & get them to vote for him at Pres as Comm to Gen Ass.
Have you written to Parsons yet? When will he have to go? He goes alone His family here. But I only write this for you to help me thank God about James Hayes. Have you heard from Wadhams yet? Write to me at once. Good night. God bless & guide you
Sister Sue
