Mt. Idaho April 17th 1893
Kate dear Sister
Trescott just brought me your letter & Mrs. Alberts, and I had your letter & Dr
Ellenwoods and must try to write a little note tonight at least. I cannot well write. I
only finished and sent Mr Dulles letter yesterday. I did not say anything about the
transfer to the Home Board only sent for my 6 months salary, due April 1st
with allowances for Mrs Shearer. I hope the transfer will not interfer with the Foreign
Boards payment of what they owe me.
Dear Sister I do not know if you will need to be at Lapwai while the transfer is going on, or if any of the Home Board will come to Lapwai about it, and will need to see you (Because I do not want you to resign. God Willing.) You will know what is best, and how the matter stands It is only this which has kept me silent even when longing for you.
Mrs Bartley & Hattie do very well as I said I think God guided you in choosing them. But, of course no one can be to me like my own dear Sister. You said you were coming up the last of April D.V. But that was before the Home Board matter came up. I do not want to do the least thing to interfere with you and the Home Board (You must not think of resigning.) But you will see how matters stand in regard to it. And if it will not interfere with your work or plans with the Home Board. (Of course we are nearly through with the Foreign Board now.) You know how gladly you will be welcomed in Mt. Idaho when you can come without hindrance to your own plans or work.
I cannot go to Lapwai. It is useless to talk about that now. I am not strong enough for the ride and I could not live there in the heat. As soon as my dear sister can without hindrance to her work or plans she will come to me in Mt. Idaho where she will be so welcomed. Write to me soon & often. Until you come May God guide you, my dear Sister in every step of your way, and make plain paths for you and us and bless & comfort you by his Spirit prays your own
Sister Sue
