Your letter with bill has come. Robert told me that the total expense of my pupils & Billy (i.e. the expenses I was to pay not the licentiates) was $31.50 for meals, lodging, and horses. That he had used some of his own money for horses which you refunded save he thought, 50 cts. At least he thought the 50 cts of the $1.50 was his. I send in this a check for $1.00. Is that right? Did you write to Dr E. about the $100.00 or $95.00 rather) for Calebs salary as a Licentiate? Please tell me. Moses & Silas are ‘supplying’ Archies pulpit as ‘assistants’ in the 2^nd K church while Archie is working among the Kamians in the Lapwai School. Find out quietly what his work is there – and if he collected money from children or adults for his Kamiah church before Pres. or after it. Find out for yourself all the announcements he had Peter make to the people at Lapwai of the doings & decisions of Pres that Sabbath of Presbytery. Peter, William &c understood nothing at Pres. which was not interpreted to them there and are giving Archies interpretations. Neither they nor Moses nor Silas understood Mr Adairs rebuke and Eddie, perhaps did not hear it. It should have been interpreted.

Archies church is worshipping separately as usual. Archies interpretation through Peter ofPresbyterys talk on that matter is that it was the Commandment of Presbytery that when Archies church was organized the 1^st church & the 2d were to be ‘pikimiyu’ Roberts church was to worship with Archies & Archies with Roberts crossing over to each other &c. There is one of the traps they will make for Mr Allen, who will not understand. They will get him to say for Roberts people to worship with Archies sometimes or make him say something they can twist into that and let Archie reach into Rs chuch to better get them to ‘cross over’ to himself. They have been trying it with my pupils to get them as ‘helpers’ and others, seeing them, to follow or go to that church to hear them preach &c. That is one of the things that troubles me. Lest they should get Mr Allen to say for my boys to preach in the 2n^d sometimes and, if they do not do it cause them persecution. Archie would only use my boys as ‘decoy ducks’ to draw away Roberts people. I wish you could in some way have Mr Allen understand this, and not be trapped into saying anything about Miss M^cBeths pupils. That 2^nd church is not raised for the spread of the Gospel. A true Gospel is not, nor will not be preached in it; by Archies but a ‘mixture’ (like the mixed 4^th of Julys’ at Lapwai), with which I wish my pupils to have nothing to do (you see what it has done for Moses. Please tell Mr. Allen this if you have an opportunity.

Archie & his Elders were to help the Meadow Creek Elders ‘pikimiyu the two churches. The ‘pikimiyu’ (orders of Presbytery) is the same plan. It means Archie’s visits (long visits) to Lapwai to help Peter with his church, and Peters visits to Kamiah to help Archie draw away from the 1^st Kamiah to the 2^nd. Williams visits too letting Archie getting his hand in all the churches, making Archie ‘Head’ of them all. They helping him against Robert – besides having a good time and a change in visiting each other – Peter is only interpreting giving Presbyterys orders about pikimiyu &c as they are interpreted to him by Archie – Try to have Mr Allen understand the plans of the ‘pikimiyu’ and give Archie Peter &c to understand clearly that they must attend to their own flocks & nobody else’s flock no one to attend to the flocks but each pastor of his own flock – letting the flocks of other pastors alone and that the Elders on one church have no authority to work in or ‘help’ to govern another church. Who are your new elders?

The Kamiah 2d & the Lapwai church will ‘pikimiyu’ at Lapwai again on the 4^th of July you will see (unless the 2^nd can succeed in horseracing &c at Kamiah with the help of the Lapwaians). If the orders of Presbytery of the pikimiyu or mixing of the two churches at Kamiah which Archie is having Peter announce is correct. I do not see why two churches & two pastors were given at K. One church & one pastor would have saved the crossing back & forth to ‘pikimiyu.’ You know the himiyu of Archie & Co. to Robert & flock – whom this talk of Archie through Peter is to try to get Mr Allens sanction to their efforts to reach and draw away from the 2^nd or persecution if they do not. Try to get Mr. Allen to understand and be on his guard. Get him to put up at Roberts if you can & [illegible] with A & Co. They will trap him (with their skill in making traps) and tell all manner of things he said to work their plans after he is gone as they did with Mr D. Don’t forget to have him take Eddie along as interpreter if possible. The Agent will probably take Edward who does not understand Church words as Eddie does and who - you know will interpret simply to suit Archie & Co. Try and have Peter understand truly what Presbytery said, and try to have him stop his work for Archie & the K 2^nd with the damage at Lapwai &c and try hard to have him walk straight when he is at K with the A It is Archie who is working through him. Mr Allen will doubtless be at Lapwai in his way. Do all you can to have him understand and to save him from being entrapped into hurting the Cause. May God give you the wisdom you so much need. Teach Peter quietly keeping your hold on him & influence with him. Archie’s joy was to make trouble between you & Peter & draw P away from you altogether. Be careful. God give you wisdom.
Miss Shearer, the sister in law of the lumberman says that the Indians of Archies church have already fully paid the lumberman and white carpenter in horses which his son has taken to Montana. Be on you guard with Phebe, Maria & James Stuarts wife.
Get Mr Allen to keep Archie away from Lapwai & Peter away from Kamiah and camp making. Try to stop that 4^th of July mixture of horseracing & worship
