Mt Idaho March 26th 1892
Kate dear sister-
I send you in this a copy of a letter from David Allen which Stephen Axtell (Charlottes
husband) brought me last night. Mark gave Stephen the letter as he was starting to take it
to me. He did not see Robert. The letter speaks for itself. The letter Allen had
just recieved was perhaps Woods letter asking for further
particulars of the ugly rumor. William is in this too with Archie. Sarah
I do not know (except black Eagles crippled wife). I never heard of her story (some tinum
Sarah I suppose) perhaps. Neither did Robert. He would have told me of it; I think. I will
not probably see him before Presbytery. Surely Presbytery will not be weak
enough to give the Archie band another week of arshin at Lapwai as with
Lizzie Hines. Archie can keep Presbytery in work for there is no rebuke. There are plenty
of tinum who would tamapaik for the sake of the reward a husband besides the
breaking down of the one who opposes the old ways. Archie has married every one of the
tamapaikers save the first. Even that common Martha he married to a boy.
I sent you lately the account of the Council at Kamiah to try Robert and the not finding a single thing against him. The story of the Archie band was proved to be a lie. Did you get Felixs Statement of the trials at Lapwai, and Kamiah, and the result? That Statement is the main thing now. I do not know what can be done about the "Sarah" story, (which of course I do not believe) but the one about which Mr Allen writes about Robert being caught in the act (with the widow I suppose) can be proven wholly false by Felixs Statement &c. Perhaps Felix told McConnville. If he did, do you think McConnville would give you a little note saying so? It would be such a great help. Some of my scholars were at the Kamiah Council too. Thank God you will be at Presbytery if God wills. I can do nothing but pray. Do not be afraid to do what is possible in Presbytery. Speak plainly Remember it is you and me aimed at through Robert. My fear is that his endurance may give out. We could not blame him but do not let him. Remember if there is great need only at Lapwai or Kamiah or Meadow Creek have Parsons ordained at once and placed in the vacancy (not ordained now unless remember). (You see Parsons & Caleb cannot be both spared from the Nez Perces (and the Shoshones.) Of course, if Archie goes to the Spokans and one of my pupils too is sent, my pupil will have to suffer, as does Robert - Have you heard from Cort yet?
I sent you a check for $20.00 to pay the expenses of my four pupils & perhaps an Elder at Waitsburg. Did you receive it? Please tell me. Go or send to the Post Office when you are in Lewiston on your way to Presbytery D.V. for fear there is anything for me to send you at the last moment
Some blanks about Boards property &c came to me today from Mr Dullas as doubtless to you too. As soon as I can get them filled out I will send them to you. If too late for you then direct to the Board.
But it is growing dark, and eyes are aching and I want to send this to the Office monday morning D.V. I have been writing you every few days. Did you get my letters?
Do not forget to get Felix Statement McC-s note and every help you can. You know I am praying for you. God give your help and wisdom and strenght for every need of His Cause and for your self prays

To the Presbytery of Walla Walla
Robert Parsons has been my pupil for more than eight years. The most of that time he has lived near me. And I have had every opportunity to learn his true character. He has been a good student, and his life and walk has been that of a consistent Christian. He is a good preacher in the Nez Perce language and very acceptable to the people who have much confidence in him and in his teachings. He has been tested and proved to be so thoroughly reliable, and he has so many of the elements of a true and successful pastor, that I can, unhesitatingly commend him as worthy of ordination, if Presbytery has need of his services as Stated Supply or pastor in any church among the Nez Perce and desires - if God wills - to place him in charge of it
