Didnt you get a copy of Mr Deffenbaughs Estimates for last year and see the way he made them out? You will need too if you send the Estimates in on these blanks. They were made for Mission Stations so different from the Nez Perce Mission. If I was sending them in myself I would just write the Estimates of Expenses of the Nez Perce Mission together (like the Estimates I sent you) on one blank of Estimates for Class (Sub. Class blank) and let them classify, and subclassify them themselves. Perhaps you had better send in all the estimates together on one sheet like I have written them on the enclosed blank. Even if you classify & sub classify the Estimates and send in the Estimates in both ways in the same envelope so that there will no danger of the Boards making a mistake in the appropriations. A mistake in the Estimates or the appropriations, you know makes trouble for the whole year.

Do as Mr D told you about Archies Church. Not one word about it in the Estimates – remember. I told you Dr Ellinwoods ‘heart’ about it. You would go against the wishes of the Board if you sent Estimate of salary for a pastor for that 2^d church at Kamiah. The Board strongly disapproves of the creation of that church and Dr E says "that in any case he does not think Our Board would authorize the support of a pastor for it." So not one word of Estimates for it. Do not recognize it in any way. Let Dr Gunn & the Board settle the matter between them (You can see by Dr Gunns letter that Peter has been to him with stories about it – and Whitman too, probably.)

You know that Presbytery is to meet in Lewiston the 1^st week (I think) in April. Of course you will attend it, will you not? Tell me soon. I am sorry it is to be in Lewiston. Is Dr Gunn on the Presbyterial Committee on Indian Missions? If not, he has no authority over the Nez Perce Mission except as a member of Presbytery. Rev Sharpe is Stated Clerk. Let Dr Gunn alone Kate or you may do hurt. He is doubtless thoroughly Whitmanized now. Dr Ellinwood did not know of Mrs Thaw’s offer when he wrote me of Miss Fletchers visit. Miss Fletcher did not tell him the name. He thought it was Mrs Ladd. You do not need to send in Estimates of anything except of what the money from which is to come from the Board. If the Board is to remove the church up to Fort Lapwai then you will need to estimate what the cost of removal will be and send in the Estimated amount needed with details (sub class)

If you will need any money from the Board for your own house, estimate it and send it in but you don’t need to estimate for what is paid volunta by those outside of the Board.

Do not write one word to Moses Montieth about anything on the Reserve. Kate be very careful what you write to him much best not to write at all. Some of his church have been writing to my pupils trying to find out things about prospects of Archies church &c. Not one word to anyone about Archies Kamiah church Kate, or it will do hurt. Archie & his Elders & Silas are working in the Meadow Creek Church. And Archies aim for himself is the Lapwai church. Better a hundred fold have Peter there. Kate, Archie wants near the Agents ear. Poor foolish Peter they only want to get him out of the way at Lapwai & Archie get the Lapwai salary if there should be no salary for that 2^nd church at Kamiah. Then the loss would fall on Peter, who would soon be gotten out of the way there. But, not one breath of what Dr E said about support of pastor for that 2^nd church to Peter, or to a living soul, red or white. They are divided among themselves in A-s church about the Joshua matter. Roberts church is peaceful and prosperous. Archies’s little congregation is scarcely missed out of Roberts church. Roberts congregation every Sabbath, they say, is about as large as ever. Help us to thank God.

Write to Joel, Kate, about his children and comforting words. Poor man he is sick at Lakahs, and nearly heartbroken has ‘never joy in his heart day or night’ he says.

Kate, I think the many blanks for subclass means that you should write the estimates for every class separately on a sub class blank as for instance; the salaries of native ministers & licentiates would come all together in subclass estimate of "class 4." Evangelistic &c &c. I began the "summary for Station" but was afraid of making a mistake and, as you say you have only two blanks for that; if you make out & send one of them, you will need this one to copy it for you own keeping. You will see how Mr D arranged the Estimates. He doubtless kept a copy which he can lend you or give you if he does not need it then you can see how he sent them in.

Send your Magic Lantern to Roberts church only. His church is large enough for all. Don’t recognize Archies church in any way or make two gatherings. The As will try to get it.
