Mt Idaho Feb 15th 1892
Kate, dear Sister -
I recieved your letter (& Corts) this P.M and hastily copied the protest I
sent to Walla Walla Pres last year, and enclose it for you to send to Mr Cort
for Spokan Presbytery. Moses is not to be thought of for a moment.
Mr Adair said Walla Walla Pres would not ordain him. He might be willing to go to the
Spokans for a little while for the sake of being ordained then when he was
ordained come back to help Archie work greater trouble for
us. Tell Pres he refused to go last year & Silas too.
Caleb has regained his health, and is willing to go to the Spokans. He will make an excellent pastor though I would like to keep him to study English &c longer. He will need it sorely if he is sent off by himself into another Presbytery. Parsons is needed on the Reserve & for the Shoshones. Neither he or Caleb should go from me for years yet if spared, save for this present distress about the Spokans.
Enoch was willing to go to the Spokans last year. If he would go now and Pres. could sent Parsons into the Meadow Creek church themselves. But, for pity sake not one word about that plan until Pres, until you see if Pres could & would appoint P. for M.C. church if E should go to Spokans or Peter or Archie or Moses will grab the Meadow Creek ch. Parsons too ought to study years yet. The Wellpinit & Spokan River churches are about as far apart as Kamiah and Asakho (7 miles). There was no need of 2 churches only Mr D wanted a place for Archie. One minister can attend to the two churches for the present, at least tho you had better make the usual Estimates for each of the churches. Of course, while one minister is in charge only one salary will be drawn. There will still be need for our Interpreter for the Spokan churches.
Kate there is no use of talking of a white minister for Lapwai or Spokan either as Dr E said when Mr D wanted to take back his resignation We have no $1000 to give him."
I sent my Reports last week. I will write again soon D.V. & return Mr Corts letters. I want to read them again and am hurrying to send this in the mail. And I am so tired I can scarcely write. Please tell me the expense to Pres. by boat & cars. Pres meets at Waitburg 1st Thursday in April. Write at once. Tell me everything. May God give you wisdom & guide you in all things prays
Sister Sue
Do not forget to send the Protest to Spokan Presbytery even if it is not needed now it may
be needed when I am not here to write it. It will do no hurt for them to know [illegible]
Spokans. I wish you could see him by himself and learn if he would go.
