I am writing this by candlelight – as I must, or not get the postals sent for – I don’t know when. So, can only write a few lines

The same day your letter came, I signed the check, wrote the note to Evans & sent the note & check to Scott, to mail and register. At the same time I sent off the Reciepts, signed, to Chambers, M^cElroy & Co. So, that matter is all settled, as far as I can settle it. Your money is in the Lewiston Bank (payable to your order) as, see the enclosed postal reciepts from Bank & P. Office.

We have had scarcely any snow so far – and only 2 cold snaps, but it is snowing heavily tonight.

But eyes are aching. Write to me as often as you can. I will write when I can but never wait for that. Good night.
