Mt. Idaho Oct 30th 1891
Kate dear Sister
I return your letter as you request. Speak plainly to Dr E of Archies work as
the root of doings of Silas & Moses. Protest earnestly against the Board giving a
salary to that K 2d, or consolidating or helping it in any way
to strengthen it to make trouble for us and do hurt to the Cause.
Kate I want you to please get the prescription from the Lapwai Dr for that medicine which helped Joel at Lapwai and send it to me the very soonest possible. If the Dr. gives the prescription I can have it filled at Grangeville perhaps (or if the L. Dr. will prepare the medicine and send it to me by mail.) I will pay him for it Joel came back from the hunt lame as he was at Lapwai. That Lapwai Drs medicine was the only medicine which ever helped him much. Please send it, or the prescription the very soonest possible. I will pay for it You do not say anything about Parsons. Is he at Lapwai still? Please send him to his school in Mt. Idaho the soonest possible and any others of my pupils who may be in Lapwai Please do not forget.
In the same mail with this I send the partial Nez P vocabulary which Harry copied to Miss Fletcher for her own Harvard Collection please tell her with my best love. The M.S.S. is only a little acknowledgement of the help and comfort she has been to us. I intended to give it to her when she came to Mt. Idaho but she is so long in coming and it may be some help to her in her researches in Nez Perce land She will come to Mt. Idaho, I know before she leaves if it is at all possible.
Kate, please dont forget to ask her if Robert can use the Church farm and if so get her to please make known to the people that he has a right to use it otherwise there be a tukin if he uses it. I have never said anything to him about it Ask her to please make the matter known known plainly to the people or the farm will lie idle-
Have you heard anything from Presbytery yet about Archie? Or the Spokan churches?
Write to me as soon as you receive this. Tell me everything.
Send Parsons to me and any of my pupils who may be at Lapwai. Give my best love to Miss Fletcher and Miss Gay. Good night God guide and help you

Oct 31st
This morning before I mailed this came a note (with check) from Mr Dulles. In my
letter to him I had glanced at matters in the 2d consolidation (protesting
against) & in his note this morning he writes:
"Some of the points about which you write especially that concerning the Second Church and the relations to the Presbytery, have been under consideration here, lately. It might have been an advantage to have had your letter then. Dr. Elllinwood will no doubt write you about the action of the Board recently taken after an investigation by a Committee on this special subject Meantime I can only add an expression of my renewed interest in your work and a hope and prayer that all you have been doing in the past may be continued, and ever greater results be shown." (That last, may possibly refer to the Shoshone trip, at which I glanced) Do you know anything about an investigation? And "Committee" was it at Presbytery? With Archie & Moses only there? Im afraid there are treacherous white Presbyters Mr D too, as well as Indians) Or was the "Investigation & Committee" in New York? How? But it is no use in my conjecturing. Tell me all you know and as soon as you know. Dr E does not owe me a letter He will probably write you soon. Write to me at once please
