Kate dear Sister
Willie Knox told me today that Robert Williams was up a little while thursday Did
he come to my house? I did not see him and I wanted to see him so much Willie says
he took down my letter to you & Dr Es.
I had a note last night from the Indian Commissioner. I will copy for you.
"Dept of the Interior. Office of Indian Affairs.
Washington
Oct. 1st 1885
Miss S.L. McBeth
Kamiah Idaho
Dear Madam
Accept my thanks for your card with accompanying photograph of an Indian family rescued
from heathenism. I am much interested in the faces and your account of the history of
James Hayes. Such photographs are always matters of interest to the Bureau which is
working for Indian civilization.
Respectfully yours,
P.D. C. Atkins"
