Dear Dr Lowrie:
In a recent letter I suggested that Miss McBeth salary should be fixed at 750 dollars. A
closer examination leads us to say that six hundred dollars will be sufficient. Whatever
may be left after paying for personal expenses, she will no doubt devote (as heretofore)
to her beloved Nez Perces. I suggest the reduction, not because the 750 is extravagant,
but because the income of your Board demands economy and close calculation.
Faithfully yours,
A.L. Lindlsey
