At a meeting last week in Coeur d’Alene, the Board of Directors of the University of Idaho Foundation adopted the following resolution relating to the College of Law:

UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO FOUNDATION, INC.
CORPORATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the University of Idaho has the statewide mission in legal education, and

WHEREAS, demand for legal education—which prepares students for careers in business and public service as well as law practice—has grown beyond the current enrollment capacity of the University of Idaho College of Law in the 35-year old Menard Law Building, and

WHEREAS, a thorough process of strategic planning, aided by academic, survey, and economic consultants, and informed by perspectives of the law faculty, University leadership, Idaho legal profession, the Idaho judiciary, and the College of Law Advisory Council, has produced a strong consensus that the University of Idaho should meet this growing demand, and fulfill Idaho’s statewide needs, by expanding the legal education program with a branch location in Boise, and

WHEREAS, the two-location concept provides a unique opportunity for collaboration with the Idaho Supreme Court in creating a nationally distinctive Idaho Law Learning Center, and

WHEREAS, the University has submitted to the Board of Regents a proposed implementation plan setting forth a carefully phased development of the Boise location while also enhancing the Moscow location and providing unified administration of statewide legal education by the University of Idaho,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the University of Idaho Foundation, Inc., that this organization hereby endorses the University of Idaho’s legal education initiative and urges the Board of Regents to approve the proposed implementation plan at their upcoming meeting in Pocatello on August 21, 2008.
