- Postcard of a house in Fort Vancouver in Vancouver, Washington. | "The Big House" as it was known in 1838 was the residence of Dr. John McLoughlin and family. The home was rebuilt in detail from photos, written descriptions and archaeological evidence, resting on its original location within the Fort. There are nine rooms on the first floor, including a large dining hall. Two rooms are upstairs. The kitchen is a separate building at the rear connected by a short hallway. The bakery and a storage building are seen on the right.
