Description:
An example of a spruce tree showing the holes bored into the bark by the spruce beetle. This tree has been heavily attacked. The little dark spots all show entrance holes into the tree. The bug bores into the tree and lays its egg which develops into the pupa stage, then a worm, and finally into the beetle itself. they girdle the tree, killing it.
