- Above [90-7-136] is a picture of the old homestead of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Summerfield, early pioneers of Latah County. House is just northeast of Moscow. Place was homesteaded by Mrs. Summerfield (then Mrs. Julia A. Warmouth) in 1871. Mrs. Summerfield was the first white woman to settle in that locality. In the picture Mrs. Summerfield is shown beside her horse all ready to ride to town to shop. At her right stands Mr. Summerfield, and on the cellar steps sits Mrs. George Northrup, pioneer neighbor and friend. Farm has never been out of the family and now belongs to Mrs. John A. Suddreth (Dora Summerfield) daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Summerfield. During the past 76 years this farm has always produced bumper crops.
