SUBJECT: Vaccine Limited to Those Over 65 and Other Specific Groups
Vaccines are rolling out. While we continue to advocate for faculty and staff in higher education to be included in a priority group, we also need to be patient. Last week, false information spread across the Moscow community that vaccinations were available for anyone. This was untrue and caused unnecessary confusion at Gritman Medical Center’s vaccination clinic at the Student Recreation Center (SRC). As a reminder, vaccines are available to those in priority groups: 65 and over, K-12 educators, first responders and others listed in Group 1 and Group 2. To learn more about vaccination eligibility, visit Idaho Public Health.
On our Moscow campus, infection rates continue to be low. We have only a few students in isolation or quarantine. Because of the cancellation of classes last week due to snow, the number of tests conducted decreased. Of the 311 test results received 1.29% were positive. Individuals who were signed up for testing last week but unable to attend can sign up for tomorrow’s testing, Feb. 23, at the SRC.
If you receive an email to participate in surveillance testing, please do so. If you are symptomatic and would like a test referral or have any testing questions, email covid19questions@uidaho.edu. Also, continue to wear your mask and follow the Healthy Vandal Pledge. Our protocols are working, and the semester so far is going smoothly.
Thank you for continuing to do your part.
Keep Calm and Vandal On.
