SUBJECT: Chief Marketing Officer Hired
I am pleased to announce the selection of Teresa Koeppel as the Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Director of University Communications and Marketing (UCM). The appointment is effective Monday, Nov. 9, 2020.
Teresa currently oversees marketing, communication and engagement globally for Compass Group at Google, including strategic communications, brand strategy, regional field marketing, digital strategy, creative services, internal communications and crisis communications.
Teresa received her bachelor’s degree in communication from Whitworth University and her master’s in organizational communication from Washington State University. She worked as the Director for Marketing and Communications at the University of Washington and later as Senior Director for Communication and Engagement at UW Medicine Advancement. Prior to that, she served as Director for Communication and Marketing at the WSU Foundation.
She has led the development and implementation of communication and marketing strategies for major fundraising campaigns, including a campaign at UW that concluded at $6 billion. She has extensive knowledge of higher education and also brings private-sector experience.
Teresa served in various positions on the board the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VIII, representing Pacific Northwest and Canadian institutions.
Outside of work, she and her husband, Chris, both enjoy teaching group fitness classes and hiking with their dog, Budo.
Thank you to the search committee, led by Kathy Barnard, Assistant Vice President of Alumni Relations and Advancement Communications. Kathy has also served as Interim Executive Director of UCM since July. I thank her for her dedication.
