The inexpensive, forest service designed, rain gage has been tested for 3 years at PR in comparison with more expenseive, standard rain gagues and has been found to be of sufficient accuracy for fire control use. With 450 of these gages in use in Region One, a savings of more than $3000 has been effected by use of the cheaper gage.
