- A comparison of raingages. The Forest Service gagem in which a measurement is being made, costs $1.50. The U.S. Weather Bureau standard 8-inch gage, costing from $9 to $11 is at the left. The large gage, at the right is electrically recording and costs about $100, without the recorder. About 400 of the Forest Service gages are used each summer in Region One. Pictured is G.
