-
What are you Missing? follows a singularly voiced narrator through a collection of formally eclectic essays and stories. The writing is structured around geographic coordinates, classroom dialogue, bus-driving instructions, obsessions and rituals among other devices. All throughout, separate stories overlap both linguistically and thematically, connecting disparate settings and shapes through the playful and adventurous narrator’s persistent and present-tense concerns about selfhood, meaning-making and devotion. As a reader progresses through the manuscript, they will begin to understand a central way of relating to the objects and people in the world of the manuscript. What are you Missing? is a wide-ranging study of what it means to orient oneself in a sometimes difficult, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes funny, always strange and beautiful world.
