Abstract
The Mercy of His Means is a novel about one family’s return from grief. Seven years after the accidental overdose of his twin sister, Quinn Kingsley opens his back door to find that the five-year-old daughter he never knew existed has been abandoned on his porch. He decides to take her back to his family’s home in northwestern Oregon to see his terminally ill father. While there, the child begins to demonstrate in strange ways an impossible knowledge of Quinn’s dead twin sister. After the death of his father, Quinn will find himself believing that, in this child, his sister has been reborn.
