Abstract:
This autobiographical study discusses ideas about the relationship between development education and globalization, as well as the author's own experiences as a volunteer working on an educational development project in Pakistan. She critically reviews relevant literature, theories, and trends in development education, education in Pakistan, and the research's context, the Educational Sector Reform Assistance (ESRA) project. The analysis draws theories of postcolonialism and critical discourse analysis. The author argues that globalization is imminent, and provides an opportunity for creating a global community through education despite the present disconnects observed in the site project and in development education on the whole. The research seeks to provide a personal account of self-realization through autobiographical analysis and language analysis. It also seeks to make the argument that development education should change its face to reflect humanity at its core.
