Doc Cheatham speaks into a microphone, which he holds with his left hand along with his trumpet. He wears a pale pink button-down, multicolored bow tie, plaid-patterned jacket, and red pocket-square. Behind him is a wood-panelled wall with a black and white Sweet Basil sign, and the top of an open black grand piano. Cheatham and his quartet played regularly at Sweet Basil Jazz Club at jazz brunches for 17 years. Sweet Basil was a prominent location for live jazz performances from when it opened in 1974 till it closed in April 2001.
