Looking west from the north side of Big Creek across from Taylor Wilderness Research Station - unknown date and 2019

The Big Creek trail has shifted over time, as being built on the steep walls of a drainage presents challenges. Here, a forester with the US Forest Service sits on an original Big Creek trail line, located just a handful of meters above Big Creek. Note the amount of erosion and lack of riparian vegetation. The trail now is situated uphill from that location, rising up and out of the Cliff Creek drainage to continue for a while before coming back down to the level of Big Creek. Shrubs, trees, and forbs have established themselves along the bank of Big Creek, though the earth is still loose and rocky.
