African American Read-In hosted by Library

The 22nd  annual National African American Read In will take place on Thursday February 17 on the University of Idaho Library’s first floor from 11 to 1.   Schools, libraries, and other community organizations around the country have taken part in the program for two decades.  This is the second time the library has hosted this lively and inspiring event, in which anyone in the community can participate by signing up to read for 3-5 minutes from the work of an African American author whose work they enjoy, whether a novelist, playwright, poet, activist, journalist, or public figure.  Several anthologies of African American literature are available for three-day checkout at the library’s reserve desk.

The Read-In is being co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Department of English and the University of Idaho Library, and the Black Student Association.  To sign up for a reading slot, email oma@uidaho.edu
